SUNSHINE LAW BASIC TRAINING PART I REVISED

Posted on Nov 19, 2021 in Featured, What's New

The State Office of Information Practices (OIP) has posted on its Training page at oip.hawaii.gov a link to “Basic Sunshine Law Training Video and Materials,” where you will find the revised Part I basic training video and transcript, which corrects an audible mistake at around the 38:15 mark regarding the example of the number of votes needed to go into an executive session.  The corresponding slide 15 of the “all” slides handout is not changed, nor are any of the other materials substantively affected.  OIP apologizes for any inconvenience this may have caused.

OIP is continuing to work on additional training materials.  Soon to come will be a shorter Summary of the Sunshine Law, along with an updated Quiz that will allow people to test their knowledge of the law as it will be amended effective January 1, 2022.  Additionally, OIP will be updating its UIPA basic training video and making other changes to its website.

So keep your eyes open for upcoming announcements in OIP’s What’s New articles, which you can find archived on OIP’s website at oip.hawai.gov.  To have the What’s New articles emailed directly to you, please email your request and email address to [email protected].  Also, if you would like to receive What’s New articles or attachments in a different format, please contact OIP at (808) 586-1400 or [email protected].
