UPDATED UIPA TRAINING VIDEOS

The State Office of Information Practices (OIP) has posted on its Training page at oip.hawaii.gov a link to its updated UIPA Basic Training Video and training materials, which are in two parts and based on a PowerPoint presentation that explains in detail the law’s basic requirements and how to properly respond to record requests.  Both parts of the closed captioned video total one hour and 15 minutes.  The training materials include:

(1) written transcripts for Part 1 and Part 2;

(2) all 68 slides matched to the written transcripts and video;

(3) only the slides that summarize the UIPA’s requirements in two versions:
(a)  a version with multiple slides per page for a total of 8 pages to print out (for Part 1 and Part 2); and
(b)  a large print version of one slide per page, for a total of 60 pages to print out (for Part 1 and Part 2); and

OIP has also posted on the Training page a link to the closed captioned video of the under 30-minute PowerPoint presentation providing a quick overview of OIP and the UIPA that was originally posted in October 2021.  Minor revisions have been to remove the first slide that had no audio in the original version and to modify the next slide, but the substantive content of the overview remains the same.  The video and its accompanying 20 slides and transcript can be accessed via a link from OIP’s Training page.

This completes OIP’s 2021 overhaul of its training materials.  If there are any questions, please call (808) 586-1400 or email OIP’s Attorney of the Day at [email protected].
