Law School Admissions Committee Membership
[Please note that opinions discussing the deliberative process privilege have been materially affected by the Hawaii Supreme Court’s majority opinion in Peer News LLC v. City and County of Honolulu, 143 Haw. 472 (Dec. 21, 2018).]
In addition, OIP Op. Ltr. No. F23-03 materially affected the ultimate conclusion herein. Based on the federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), 20 U.S.C. section 1232g, and section 92F-4, HRS, UH may withhold the student names from disclosure to avoid in order to prevent jeopardizing its federal funding under FERPA.
Records of the University of Hawaii which identify persons serving on the law school’s admissions committee are available for public inspection and copying once confidential personal information has been deleted from the records.
