Information about Requesters of Conviction Data Records
Information maintained by the Hawaii Criminal Justice Data Center (“HCJDC”) that is provided by persons requesting conviction data constitutes a government record under the UIPA. Upon request, the HCJDC must make information about individuals who request conviction data, including: requester’s name, requesting agency, and dissemination reason, available for public inspection. This information does not fall under any of the UIPA exceptions to disclosure. However, the HCJDC must segregate any information carrying significant privacy interests under section 92F-13(1), Hawaii Revised Statutes, including: home addresses and telephone numbers of requesters, and social security numbers of convicted persons.
