Disciplined UH Employees’ Names Public
The names and other information set forth in section 92F-14(b)(4), Hawaii Revised Statutes, concerning University of Hawaii employees in bargaining units 7 and 8 who were suspended or terminated for employment-related misconduct, must be disclosed. This information, the OIP concluded, falls within the disclosure provisions of Act 191, Session Laws of Hawaii 1993. Although there is currently a temporary restraining order prohibiting the Honolulu Police Department from disclosing similar information, the OIP noted that this order does not apply to other agencies, and that the provisions of Act 191 have been upheld and applied by the court in two recent cases pending in the Circuit Court.
