Making Ethics Commission Nominees Public Includes Past Nominees
Conclusions reached in OIP Op. Ltr. No. 93-13 that the identities of State Ethics Commission nominees selected by the Judicial Council should be made public before the Governor makes his appointment also apply to past nominees, despite oral assurances of confidentiality that the Judicial Council may have given to certain nominees. Moreover, the provisions of the UIPA apply to all government records currently maintained by agencies, including those records created or obtained before the effective date of the UIPA, July 1, 1989.
