Names of Nominees for Boards and Commissions
[OIP Op. Ltr. No. 05-03 partially overrules this opinion to the extent that it states or implies that the UIPA’s privacy exception in section 92F-13(1), HRS, either prohibits public disclosure or mandates confidentiality.]
The Governor is required to make available for inspection the identity of a nominee to a board or commission and information about the individual’s current occupation, business address, business telephone number, education, and work experience required for appointment. Other personal information about the nominee must remain confidential, along with the names of persons who applied for the appointment but were not nominated by the Governor.
