RULES SURVEY RESULTS AND OPPORTUNITY TO RESPOND TO COMMENTS
Posted on Oct 3, 2017 in Featured, What's NewA big MAHALO to all who completed the online survey and provided comments on OIP’s draft rules for processing UIPA record requests. While OIP reviews the survey results (which have been posted to OIP’s Rules and Training pages at oip.hawaii.gov), we would like to share them with you and give everyone an opportunity to respond to the comments until October 15, 2017. OIP’s online survey will remain open until then. If you have already completed the online survey and would like to provide additional comments, please email or mail them to OIP by October 15.
OIP is still hopeful that the rules we will propose for adoption will be ready for a public hearing by the end of this year. The proposed rules will be accompanied by an Impact Statement that will help to explain the rules and address many of the comments received.
OIP will not provide another PowerPoint presentation until after the hearing and the rules are ready for adoption. During the legislative session, OIP intends to work on revisions to the UIPA and Sunshine Law Guides; update the UIPA Record Request Log, Checklist, and Instructions; create and revise forms; and develop other training materials. OIP’s goal is to have the new materials ready by June to educate the agencies and boards before the new rules and laws go into effect, which is expected to be July 1, 2018.
