The Office of Information Practices (OIP) has set up a registration site for the September informational briefings on OIP’s draft administrative rules as well as training on the newest revisions to the Sunshine Law, which were announced in the August 8, 2017 What’s New article.  All presentations will be from 10 a.m. to noon, and will start with a 60-minute briefing on the draft rules for record request procedures under the UIPA. After a short break, OIP will provide a 30-minute summary of the significant Sunshine Law changes under Act 64, SLH 2017 that will go into effect on July 1, 2018. There will be time for questions from the audiences at the main locations.

The power point slides and complete audio and written transcripts of the rules briefing and Sunshine Law training will also be posted on OIP’s training page in September.

OIP’s September presentations will assume that attendees already know the current UIPA record request process and Sunshine Law requirements, and they are not intended to be basic training of these laws.  For basic training, please go to OIP’s training page at oip.hawaii.gov, where you will find a large selection of materials and information regarding the UIPA and Sunshine Law.

OIP’s draft rules will be posted on OIP’s website after the review by the Attorney General’s office is completed, and the rules’ availability will be announced in a What’s New article in September.  OIP looks forward to getting people’s comments on the draft rules after the September briefings.
