NEW QUICK REVIEW ON ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSIONS BY MULTIPLE SUNSHINE LAW BOARDS

Posted on Mar 3, 2017 in Featured, What's New

As part of its training duties, the state Office of Information Practices (OIP) today posted a new “Quick Review:  Roundtable Discussions with Multiple Board Subject to the Sunshine Law.”  This advisory provides tips on how multiple boards may comply with the Sunshine Law’s requirements when their members participate together in a roundtable meeting, symposium, or similar event and will be discussing issues that are within their respective boards’ areas of authority.  Because the Sunshine Law applies whenever two or more members of a board discuss board business, this new Quick Review discusses various ways that members from multiple boards can meet with each other and still remain in compliance with the law.

These and other Quick Reviews and training materials can be found on the Training page at oip.hawaii.gov under either the UIPA or Sunshine Law headings.  To reach OIP’s Attorney of the Day for quick, informal advice on other questions, please call, e-mail, mail or visit OIP at the contact information above.
