2013 OIP UPDATE, NEW BILL, AND LOG

Posted on Jan 24, 2014 in Featured, What's New

The State Office of Information Practices is pleased to have helped 85 registrants keep abreast of the most significant developments concerning the UIPA and Sunshine Law through its online continuing legal education (CLE) program, 2013 OIP Update, which was presented yesterday.  The same CLE program, with one MCPE credit, was previously presented to 95 attorneys, and will be posted on OIP’s website next week for review by anyone at any time (no MCPE credit).

Additionally, OIP has been tracking the new bills introduced this legislative session, which opened on January 15, 2014.  One bill of particular interest is scheduled to be heard on Tuesday, January 28, at 10:00 a.m. by the Senate Judiciary and Labor Committee, in Room 016:  SB 2249, Relating to Public Agency Meetings.  This bill would amend the Sunshine Law’s notice provisions to clarify how the proposed adoption, amendment, or repeal of administrative rules may be described in public agency meeting agendas.

Finally, OIP reminds agencies that their UIPA Record Request Log summaries must be uploaded onto the Master Log at data.hawaii.gov by the end of this month, January 31, 2014.  Training on how to fill out and upload each agency’s Log can be found on the training page at oip.hawaii.gov.
